I lost 3.1 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay me!!!!!!!!!!!! I can live with that!

Hello 2011. I've been waiting for you!

2011 is going to be an AMAZING year for me.

I can just feel it.

Don't you love it when you already know something will be fantastic, and it turns out even better than you dreamed?

That's what this year will be for me.

Just wait and see.

In other news, the Cruise Diet has officially started! We have 74 days until we take off to the Caribbean for my 50thForty Tenth birthday, and we have both gained weight in the five months we've been together!

What happened to working all that weight off with sexercise????????? LOL I should be 120 lbs by now!

He's put on 10, I've put on 5, and neither of us are happy about it. So he's doing portion control and I'm officially back on Weight Watchers, and we'll see if we can hit our goals by the time we leave March 20th. I think his is 15 lbs, mine is 20.

So, back to 2011....

Yeah, it's gonna rock. Don't ask me why, or how, or what's going to happen. I know, but I'm not telling. I'm creating my own fantastic life as we speak.

What's the New Year got in store for you? Tell me here and now, and then at the end of the year I'll post everyone's comments and we'll see who really created the life of their dreams!!!!!

Ready....go!

400 people love me, weight loss and "who" is exercising????

Yay!  I have 400 followers!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you to my six new peeps....I will try to keep your attention and make following me worth your while!

In other news....

I'm firmly back on Weight Watchers! Yay! As you know last year between April and October I lost 35 lbs, but I'm sad to report that once the holidays hit I fell off the wagon BIG TIME.

Gained back 8 of it. Mooooooooooooooooooo.

I have dicked around since January, half assed on plan during the week and then inhaling everything in sight on weekends.

Stella could not get her groove back to save her life.

But I'm happy to say that I officially restarted on March 1st...and get this....

I'm even exercising!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, right? Who said that????

Yep, I joined Jazzercise.

I'm *that* old.

Let me tell you, I had no idea how out of shape I was til I was in class, and the other little old chubby ladies were kicking my ass.

It was humbling to say the least.

But I've discovered I enjoy going, and working up a sweat for an hour, and it's motivated me to stay on plan every day, and I've lost 2 lbs this week already. YAY ME!

Only six more to go to get back to where I left off in early November.

And then only 40 more to go to get to my goal weight.

Clearly I'm not going to be the hot mama I planned to be come March 22nd when I turn 49...but at least I'll be back on my way to becoming her!

Happy Friday!  What's your big plans for the weekend?

Weigh In Day! Yeah, don't get excited.

So last week when I came back from Vegas and weighed in....

I gained FOUR POUNDS.

Uh huh. That's right.  Four big ones.

Was I surprised?  Oh hell no.  I didn't record a single bite that went into my mouth for 4 1/2 days.  You know, things like In N Out Burger and Fries, chips and salsa in the hotel room, chocolates on the pillow,  even PF Changs one night.  Oh, and the first day we were at Market, we didn't eat except what was in the showrooms.  I existed on bottled water and chocolate chip cookies for a good part of the day.

And then there was the alcohol.

To say we drank a lot is putting it mildly.  It started with a double Grey Goose rocks in the airport, continued on the plane, and didn't stop once we hit Vegas.  In fact by 2pm most of the showrooms at Market had beer and wine out and we'd start then.

By the time I got off the plane (yeah, I had a Bloody Mary or two on the way home as well) my feet and ankles were actually swollen from excess fluids!

So yeah, I wasn't shocked at the four pounds.

The good news is that today's weigh in, I was down 3.1 of it.  Still have that little bit left to go and truth is, I have only lost 1.7 lbs in September which is a little disappointing but hey....it's still a downward trend.  Frankly this past ten days I've been off my game.  I haven't really been off my diet since I got back from Vegas, but until yesterday I wasn't tracking my food either.  And while I walked about 20 miles in Vegas, I also haven't exercised since I got back.  Right now I'm at a 29.2 lbs loss.  Not 30 lbs anymore...but I'll crack that number again next week.

So I'm back on the wagon now.  I took a little break, and now I'm committed fully again to losing this next 45 lbs. and getting to my goal.  Unfortunately it seems the date I will achieve my goal has been moved back from my birthday (March 22) to April 28th according to my little tracking thingy.  But that's okay, as long as I get there....it's a marathon, not a sprint right?

Weigh In Day....

....and sadly, nothing new to report.

Still the same as last week. Total pounds lost 30.1 since April 9th.

It's all good though. As I've stated before, it seems my body cycles through weight loss...every other week is a no loss week. It happens every single time....good week, bad week, good week, bad week.

Here's my pattern since July 1st:

-1.1 lbs

+0.2 lbs

-1.7 lbs

+0.4 lbs

-3.1 lbs

+0.2 lbs

-2.4 lbs

+0.7 lbs

-2.7 lbs

+0.4 lbs

-2.6 lbs

No change

So I guess I can be happy that this time I broke the cycle of gaining on the off week...by neither losing or gaining.

It's weird, I really stay on plan, it's not like two weeks out of four I'm off it and those are the weeks I don't lose anything. I've just had to accept that every other Weigh In Day, I'm going to alternate between "Yay! I lost a few more pounds and am that much closer to my goal!" to "Dammit, scale...MOVE south you worthless hunk of plastic and metal!!!!"

It's easy to get discouraged when it doesn't move. Just like it's easy to be really motivated when it does. But I've learned to find the positives in the off weeks when there is no loss on the scale.

For example, today I dug into the Divorce Archives (you know, the stockpile of clothes I bought four years ago when I was going through my divorce and dropped 30 lbs practically overnight from the stress) and pulled out 5 pairs of pants to try on and see if they fit.

Voila...I have new clothes to take to Vegas on Saturday! Because they do fit, and they look good! Now at least I have some jeans that don't bag in the butt or fall down when I walk.

I had dinner with Dr. Penny last week, and it helped me to reconcile my feelings about the number on the scale when I realized that while we are both wearing the same size clothes right now....she is 45 lbs lighter than me. See, I told you guys I have really heavy bones!!!!! I wasn't making that crap up! I weigh sooooo much more than I look. And consequently I feel like I have to be within that weight range for a female my height, but the truth is that I don't think my body can get that small. Seriously, if I was at the low end of the range, I'd look bulimic. My goal weight is 10 lbs over what the high end of my range is. Trust me, I will look and feel fabulous at that.

OK so next week's weigh in will be the day I get back from Vegas. While I know I will be doing a LOT of walking while I'm out there, I'm also realistic enough to know that I'm going to be doing my fair share of drinking as well. I will try to eat as healthy as I can, and limit myself to a couple of drinks a day. And no fruity drinks by the pool Hopefully I can come back and still show my usual 2-4 lbs loss for the week....

Then I have two weeks to lose as much as I can before I head to Dallas and spend four days with Deb and Jill.

I will come back from there in need of a new liver.

Let's just think of *that* little trip as being on a liquid diet....

Saturday, September 5, 2009

OK I don't do this often....

Here's a full body shot of me from the end of May, when I was in Vegas with Linda Lou.

And this was yesterday. Me minus 30 lbs.

Comparing the two gives me motivation because I can see it now. And other people are noticing that I've lost weight, too. It's funny, I *know* I have, after all I'm the one watching the scale so intently, and having to buy new underwear because mine were falling down when I walked! But I think until you compare pictures to the old you...it doesn't really sink in because sometimes I still see me 30 lbs ago in the mirror.

According to Weight Watchers, I will be at my goal weight by my 49th birthday on March 22. So I'm not halfway here yet, I still have another 45 I want to lose, but I've put a damn good dent in it!

And come March 22nd, that body shot will be in a bathing suit.

Just because I can!

Weigh In Day! And Happy Birthday, Mom!

Are y'all sick of hearing about this yet? Just remember, you love me even when I'm high fiving myself! And don't forget, if you go back and read my very first post in April 2008, I started this blog in part to be accountable for trying to lose weight and get healthy. Yeah it took me a year to get started...but at least I'm doing it now.

Anyway...on to the important news!

This week's weigh in...down 2.9 lbs! Yay!!! Here's my new total...

I've lost 4.5" off my boobs, 4.5" off my waist, 4.5" off my hips (do we see a pattern here?) and 1 3/4" off my upper arms. Oh, and 2 dress sizes.

I was so excited, today I could fit into my Divorce Pants!

Four years ago, during the Summer from Hell when I was separating and divorcing, I lost 30 lbs in about 6 weeks from the stress. I bought this pair of really cute jean capris, but needless to say by the time the following summer rolled around, I had gained it all back and they didn't fit. So they've been hanging in my closet ever since.

When I started Weight Watchers on April 9th, I tried those pants on, with a goal of fitting into them before summer was over. Every couple of weeks I've tried them on to gauge where I was in my goal.

This morning I saw them hanging there and thought I'd give it a shot and see if they were getting close. Last time I tried them on, I could pull them up as long as I slathered my thighs with vaseline but couldn't button or zip.

As I pulled them on today and they slid up my body easily I was like "hmmmmm...?" and then voila...they snapped and zipped with no problem!

I was so psyched!

I wore them to work and was prancing all around like the closet supermodel I am. Work it, girl! Haha

I'm a size 16 again! I can go into regular stores and buy things! Yay!!!!!

And...I've done it slow and healthy. I'm proud of me!

Still got a ways (weighs?) to go until I'm a size 12. That's my true goal.

But damn, I'm halfway there! Size 20 gone. Size 18 gone.

Size 16. Check.

But not for long.

Oh...and by the way, today is my Mom's 85th birthday. I'll post pictures about it tomorrow. Happy birthday Mommy...I love you dearly.

Sigh. Yeah, let's UPDATE this one too.

OK, I know I know...it's not a big deal and weight fluctuates daily. The facts are this month I've lost 4.4 lbs, an average of .9 a week. I want the weight to come off faster than this, and I'm pissed that it's not.

BUT....

According to WW, I have lost 4" in my waist, 4" in my hips, 4" of boobs and back fat chest, and 1 1/2" of flabby bat wings upper arms.

So, 25.2 lbs (as of today) and 13.5" overall. That's a lot less of me than who was writing this blog on April 9th.

I'm happy with what I've accomplished. I really am. The last time I lost 25 lbs I was going through a divorce and believe me, I was a mess. I simply wasn't eating from the stress, and the weight fell off. It also jumped right back on within 6 months of the divorce being final.

I'm doing it the healthy way this time, and I've always heard that when you take it off slow, you are more likely to keep it off. Sigh. OK fine.

Crawling back off the ledge now.

************************************

Not a good weigh in day.

Up .7 of a lb.

Sigh.

Guess my losing streak is over again.

It's Weigh In Day!

My clothes are still safe....no casual wear harmed today!

Down 2.4 lbs this week....new total 25.9 gone forever! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best part is that now I only have 49.1 lbs left to get to my goal. That is totally doable. It sure sounds better than the 75 lbs I needed to lose when I started this journey April 9th!!!

I finally believe I can do this....

In other news, look at how skinny my kid is.

He looks amazing.

Weigh In Day....

No casual wear met its untimely demise this morning!!!!!!!

Down 3.1 lbs. this week. Yay me!

Let's see...what did I do different....

Well, I started walking more.

Ate more fresh foods (ie: vegetables and fruits).

Limited my frozen meals to lunches during the week.

Cut my hair and took off my nails (ok maybe that had nothing to do with the weight loss!).

So what did we learn this week, class?

When one moves her ass and eats better, the scale will move south, and the weight will come off.

Go figure!

I'm cautiously optimistic that my plateau is over and I will continue going downhill from here.

I mean, down the scale.

For once I'm happy being a LOSER!

The Incredible Hulk Lives

So yesterday I had a melt down.

If you read my post about my weigh in, you know I was NOT happy about the situation. Logically I do know that my weight loss is a slow journey, but damn does it have to be half a pound a week?

I really felt like I was going to have a good loss week yesterday, and when I got up and had gained .4 of a pound, I was not happy. Translation...I was furious.

So in the interest of full disclosure I have to tell you guys what I did as a result of that anger.

I turned into the Incredible Hulk.

Let me walk you through it.

After I got out of the shower, and was putting my make up on, I worked myself into a furor over the whole "2.2 lbs in 4 weeks" thing. I swear I was looking in the bathroom mirror and seeing Medusa.

Then I started talking to myself. And it wasn't pretty, flowery, supportive words either.

Mostly stuff like cow, heifer, disgusting pig, peppered with the F bomb every other word.

At that point, I made the mistake of getting dressed for work.

So here I am, standing in front of my closet, saying out loud "So, heifer, what feedbag/tent are you gonna wear today? Doesn't matter if it shows off your 20 lbs loss, because nobody can tell you've lost weight anyway. Fat f*cking cow. Yeah here, put THIS on. It's loose, and it makes you look like you're in your second trimester. Go ahead...wear it. Moooooooooooooo."

(I'm not proud of my actions, and yes it was a bit childish and nonproductive, but I'm a 48 year old menopausal woman. My hormones are not rational.)

Then I pull this black shirt out of my closet. It's a nice black shirt.

Or was.

I put it on, and look in the mirror, and successfully look pregnant. Which is such a great look for a woman my age....

Then I notice that the tie in the back of the shirt is really loose.

Now, you would think that would make me happy, right? Clearly I've lost weight since I wore this last, because the tie needs pulled tighter.

So I try to untie it.

And it gets knotted.

And I pull on it.

And it stays knotted.

And I pull some more.

And the damn thing won't budge.

The next sound you hear is the sound of fabric tearing. No wait, that's not the right sound.

RIPPING.

That's right, I pulled so hard I ripped the shirt.

Which sent me into a pulling and tearing frenzy.

I turned into the Incredible Hulk. You know how he grows bigger and his shirt starts ripping and he tears at it and rips it off his body?

Yep, that was me.

Here's the proof:

Now, because it's black, it doesn't photograph well, but believe me when I tell you, there is no repairing this one.

Go ahead. Laugh. I'll wait.

So after I rip the shirt from my body, I threw it on the ground with all the force I can muster, I guess in an effort to break the carpet.

And then I began to laugh. Maniacally.

I realized I had gone batshit crazy.

And I said out loud "Well, *that* certainly helped the situation, didn't it?"

Lesson learned...if you are going to inflict harm on innocent clothing, don't pick the black stuff. It's what makes a girl look thin. Go for color. Tear up pink or something.

I've fantasized a lot recently about someone ripping my clothes off in the heat of passion Somehow that fantasy never quite included me ripping my own stuff off in anger.

Sigh.

You'll be pleased to know I'm much better today. I ate really good yesterday, including fresh vegetables, and tomatoes and basil from my own garden. I went out and took a very long, fast, sweaty walk last night, and got to bed early.

My clothing is safe today.

I no longer feel the need to damage casual wear.

Let's hope my jean shorts survive the weekend.

I suck.

It's weigh in day.

And I've GAINED .4 lbs since last week.

And I've lost a total of 2.2 lbs IN THE LAST MONTH.

I've done nothing but yo yo up and down the scale for four weeks now.

And I'm really fucking tired of it.

I understand plateaus. I understand that I could weigh myself tomorrow and be down a pound or two due to water fluctuation. I understand, as Penny would tell me, that I shouldn't weigh myself at all, just judge how my clothes fit because the numbers on the scale don't matter.

Well, they matter to me.

Because it's a big goddamn number on my scale and I want it to be a whole lot smaller.

It's just frustrating to work hard at this, stay on plan 99% of the time (with the occasional margarita night with the girls being an exception) and get nowhere.

My son has lost 45 lbs in the same time frame that I have been dieting. Actually, he's been doing it about 2 weeks less than I have. And I've lost 20. I suck.

Don't get me wrong, I am so freaking proud of him for his success, that I can hardly contain myself. He looks amazing, and I know he's worked hard to get where he is.

But dammit, so have I.

Yes, I know I'm 30 years older than he is. Yes I know men lose weight faster. Yes I know he's far more active and gets a lot more exercise.

Ugh. I'm just very, VERY disheartened today. I feel like I'm never going to lose this weight, and I am destined to be fat and old and alone.

FML.

69 And Saturday

Get your minds out of the gutter.

It's 69 degrees in Ohio this fine Saturday.

69.

I've always liked that number, especially in July!

I love having the A/C off and the windows open.

I love weeding the flower beds and not sweating like a whore in church.

I love the smell of fresh air in the house and not stale air conditioning.

Oh, and I love that I lost another .9 lbs since Wednesday, bringing my grand total to 21.7 now.

As my son would say....boom!

Enjoy the day!

Weigh In Day....and coming Friday....

I don't know how I did it....

But after a weekend in Chicago where I didn't count WW points at any time, and I ate things like:

Bacon & Eggs
Pancakes
Hash Browns
Hamburgers
Hot Dogs
Potato Salad
Baked Beans
Brownies
Club Sandwiches
French Fries

....and those insanely ridiculous cupcakes that are at least 400 calories each....

I still managed to lose 1.8 lbs!

Yay me!

After two straight weeks of not losing, I was pretty annoyed, and used Chicago as an excuse to pig out and eat everything I haven't eaten in three months. Yes, I see the ridiculous logic in "I haven't lost weight so I'll eat like a cow"...but you people know me, and know that being rational isn't exactly my strong suit! I only ate twice a day but trust me, I ate probably triple my points allowance on Saturday and Sunday.

I think the massive amount of walking I did is what kept me from gaining. Gee, there's a concept. Exercise aiding in weight loss. Go figure.

Anway...I am thrilled with the scale doing down and am very thankful for it!

According to Weight Watchers, I'm averaging 1.5 lbs a week and should be at my goal weight the end of March. Just in time for my birthday....I can deal with that. I plan on turning 49 in Texas with Dr. Penny, so I'll gladly flaunt my hot new body there! (OK, hot old body. Whatever.)

Oh, and coming Friday....

The funniest sex story ever. Yes, it really happened and NO, it didn't happen to me, but it did happen to one of my friends. And it's hilarious....

Ready, Aim, Fire.

I am no longer having a love affair with my scale. The lazy ass thing won't hold up it's end of the bargain. Our deal is...I eat right, and it's supposed to move in a downward motion.

I've done my part.

Mr. Scale, on the other hand, is quite uncooperative.

I'm gonna shoot the fucker worthless piece of crap.

That's right. Two straights weeks of ZERO weight loss.

Let me repeat that. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

We are not amused.

Granted, it's better than a weight gain. I am thankful for that.

But when you stick to plan, work so hard at losing the weight, and the fat refuses to break up with you...it's time to take drastic measures.

Dana, I need to borrow your gun.

Thursday, June 25, 2009

It's not great, but I'll take it.

So today was weigh in day.

The bad news is that I only lost .7 of a pound this week.

The good news is that I've lost 18.2 lbs so far!

After 11 weeks on Weight Watchers, I have noticed a trend. Every other week I lose less than a pound. Then the next week I lose 2-3 lbs. So I knew this was this going to be my "off week".

It still annoys me to see less than a pound, but I figure as long as the scale is going down in any increment, I'm winning the war.

Still got a long way to go, but I'm getting there. Slow and steady evidently wins this race. I just remind myself every day it's a marathon, not a sprint.

And next week I will hit the 20 lb. loss mark. Yay me!!!!

Spiked watermelon? And other tidbits....

Hopefully this picture shows up. If you can't read it, then click on it and it should open in a bigger window.

You're welcome.

In other news....

Why is it that I've lost 17.5 lbs and hardly anybody has noticed? Am I really *that* fat that you can't tell almost twenty pounds of me is gone????? I would say I'm down a dress size now, because the clothes I was wearing were a good size too small (I refused to buy any size starting with a 2! They all better have a one in front of them, unless I can actually see single digits for the first time since I was 21!) and now they all fit comfortably, and some are even loose. I realize when you want to lose the equivalent of an Olsen, it takes awhile to see the changes. But I've lost like 3" off my waist and 4" off my boobs (yeah, they are the first to go!) and I can tell my face has lost weight.

So come on, somebody throw me a bone here!!!

I should have started WW with a full body picture so I could do monthly comparisons. Maybe that would help me at least see it.

Right now I still see a lot of....plump skin. LOL

I can't wait until I can shop for regular clothes again, and not have a credit card at Lane Bryant! I'm tired of being plus sized. I'm ready to be normal. I'm ready to take my jeans off and not look at the ass of them and swear at the wideness of it. I'm ready for the everlasting muffin top and back fat to be gone forever.

I want to take this fat suit off. Once and for all. I'm tired of hiding behind it.

I'm following your lead, Kathy. We've been fighting this battle side by side for over ten years now, and the way you have turned your life around this past year has overjoyed and amazed me. Now I am right behind you. We both finally "get it". (Geesh, it took long enough!) And I'm proud as hell of both of us.

Tell me, readers, what do you need to finally "get"?

Frustrating Thursday

Thursday WW Weigh In:

GAINED .6 lb.

Seriously????????? How the fuck does that happen when I'm eating less and exercising more? I'm staying within my points every day, and breaking a sweat consistently. I even joined the Y and worked out for an hour last night.

Arrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I know, I know. It's a marathon, not a sprint. But it would be nice to see some reward to your hard work, you know?

I'm going to go scream in the shower now. And try not to do what I would usually do which is say "screw it, I'm just meant to be fat" and eat a dozen donuts.

Thursday Weigh In *Updated*

According to Wii Fit....

Drumroll please.....

I have lost 4.9 lbs this week! Woohoooooooooo!

I'm off to find myself a little tracker thingy to put on my blog.

*******************************

Found a tracker to use temporarily. It's at the very bottom of my blog. Damn thing is too wide to fit on the side, so I'll keep looking.

Also, I just got an email from the Universe. LOL I get one every day, and they are good reminders of how I need to focus on the positive, not the negative, to ask for what I want and live as though I already have it. This one I got a kick out of because just the other day I posted that I got a "do over" via divorce court....

Oh yeah, Julie, I forgot to tell you...

You get as many "do-overs" as you like. Of course, you never know you're living a "do-over" until it's over.

There are lots of reasons for wanting a "do-over." Most of all, people want another chance to do things they were afraid to do the first time, and to say things they were afraid to say. Oddly enough, it's not their mistakes they want to rework, but their "unused" minutes.

Yeah, pretty nifty, but you should know that it isn't any easier the next time, and because no two ever go exactly the same, the gifts, opportunities, and loves of one, never appear the same way again. Never.

So all in all, it's better to live as if there are no "do-overs," so that you won't need one. But I thought I'd share this with you anyway, to work in the bits about fear, mistakes, and how precious today's opportunities really and truly are.

Crafty as a fox,
The Universe
