Pick A Dick Day and let's go to Dildo.

Celebrated every March 15 in Komaki, a town about 45 minutes north of Nagoya, Japan, this is the time of year where folks haul out a large wooden penis to give three cheers to fertility and renewal. The custom is an old one that is connected to bringing about a good harvest and having babies.

I say, let's just call it Pick A Dick Day.

This sure beats my trip to Dildo, Newfoundland back in 2002.

But at least I got to meet Captain Dildo then. I don't have the actual pictures anymore, I lost them in the divorce. But this is exactly where I stood...

And I had one taken under this sign as well:

We had just missed the annual Dildo Festival the week before. Just to prove I'm not lying, I actually found a picture online of the same damn sign I had one of. This one shows it was Dildo Days '98 and mine was '02. Same sign, they just change the year each time!

Ah yeah. Good times.

Thousand Words Thursday

Sorry, my Vegas post isn't ready yet. So we're going with Thousand Word Thursday today, and hopefully I'll have time to get me trip blog done for Friday!!!!

So here you go...it is me or do you see a guy's face in the side of the mountain? It looks like George Washington. Maybe it's the white hair...

Wait, let's try a close up so you can see it better:

Kinda freaky, eh?

Hey, at least it's a *picture* from Vegas....

Thousand Words Thursday

A picture is worth a thousand words, right?

I think a few of you can identify.

Enough said.

Thousand Words Thursday

I think this is self explanatory, don't you?

My neck IS better. Three visits to the chiro, three rounds of therapy, several pain pills and muscle relaxers, and 6 days later...and I'm back at least 90%! Still some stiffness and soreness but at least I can spin my head around on my shoulders again in my best Exorcist impression. That's always a plus when dealing with the masses at the mall. You'd be amazed how quickly the crowds at the register vanish and you can check out. I'm just sayin.

How can it be two weeks before Christmas? Seriously? Fortunately this year, my family has decided to "adopt a family" rather than exchange gifts among ourselves. We have found a family in which the mother has terminal cancer, and she has 5 children, and believe me they are living at poverty level. We have gotten coats for the kids, some toys and games, some food, and I believe had a nice chunk of money left over for a gift card to WalMart so that she can get whatever else she needs in the form of groceries or material things.

So the only person I'm actually buying for is my son. And he only wants one thing. I may be selling my body to get it but it's going to be his Christmas, 18th birthday (which is two days after Christmas) and graduation (he's out of school as of January 14th) gift. (OK yeah, I am also getting him a tattoo for his birthday but that doesn't count. LOL) He wants a Macbook laptop.

I want a sugar daddy.

A Thousand Words Thursday

Cheaper Than Therapy

Love this idea of a picture being worth a thousand words...

This is my son and I, last August, in Tijuana Mexico. We intended to drive to the main border station there, park our car and walk over like most people do (you don't ever want to take a rental car especially over there...you have no insurance coverage in another country!)...however due to a faulty GPS we ended up driving our rental car THROUGH the migrant workers border 20 miles east of Tijuana, and ended up in the ghettos of Mexico scared shitless and unable to even find a sign in English, let alone someone to tell us how the hell to get out of this dump.

I have never been so scared in my life! I'm driving down a road that is getting more and more narrow, and eventually there are wild dogs running across the street, and Mexican people looking at us in our convertible (we had put the top up immediately after realizing we crossed the border!) and all I could think was "This is how people just disappear and are never found...." Eventually we found our way to the correct border, (basically, I just drove straight and prayed) got in line and sat there for 6 hours in traffic trying to get back across to safety! Of course halfway through we realized neither of us had passports and we spent the next few hours figuring out how we were going to explain this to the border patrol people. Oh, and praying there were no drugs stashed in our tires or under the car left by a previous renter!!!!!!!!! It was awful. And of course we both had to pee like you would not believe, and were thirsty as hell because it was 90 degrees but weren't willing to buy bottled anything from the people walking up and down the aisle of traffic selling stuff!

Then we saw this (ok technically this is two pictures but it adds to the story)

We got here and saw a sign that said passports were not required until January 1, 2008...and so I snapped a picture of my son and I to show the relief on our faces, that we were leaving the hellhole we were in and getting back on American soil!!!!!!!!!!!! As we drove across into California, we were shaking with joy at our nightmare being over, and as I looked for a place to stop to pee, Jordan says "Mom, I never want to go to Mexico again. I don't even want to eat at a Taco Bell now!" Funny kid.

Join the fun of Thousand Word Thursdays at Jen's Place.

Oh yeah, and I *get* that the picture is supposed to speak for itself, however this one required background info to truly appreciate it!!!
